On the 11th March 2019 the Department of Immigration has added some occupations to the Medium and Long Term Skilled Occupation List (MLTSSL), which will allow professionals from these areas to apply for visas such as Skilled Permanent Independent Subclass 189 Visa, the State-Nomination Permanent Visa 190, the Regional Sponsored Provisional 489 Visa and the Graduate Visa 485.

The occupations are:

Conservator
Dancer or choreographer
Economist
Engineering Professionals nec
Environmental Consultant
Environmental Manager
Environmental Research Scientist
Environmental Scientists nec
Food Technologist
Footballer
Geophysicist
Horse Trainer
Hydrogeologist
Life Scientist (General)
Life Scientists nec
Marine Biologist
Metallurgist
Meteorologist
Microbiologist
Mining Engineer (excluding Petroleum)
Multimedia Specialist
Music director
Musician (Instrumental)
Natural and Physical Science Professionals nec
Petroleum Engineer
Physicist – no longer restricted to medical physicist
Pressure welder
Software and Applications Programmers nec
Statistician
Telecommunications network planner

The Occupations of Dentist and Anaesthetist were added to the Regional Occupation List, which means these professionals can apply for the Subclass RSMS visa or the Subclass 482 TSS Sponsorship Visa, which requires a job offer in a regional area, as well as the Subclass 489 Skilled Regional Provisional Visa.
